about Caren

Caren is a human rights defender with the Nyabende Human Rights Coalition. She lives in Kisumu. Her work is usually travel-heavy and unpaid.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis in Kenya, she has had to curtail her travel in part because she and another member of her household are both HIV positive. There have also been significant floods in Kisumu. During this time, she has turned her attention to the promotion of self-sufficiency in the home.

Through a grant, Pambanisha supports Caren’s work

this happens in three ways:

1.

Pivoting to self-sufficiency and direct assistance during Covid-19, Pambanisha has helped to fund Caren purchasing chickens to distribute to local families herself and through the Nyabende coalition.

2.

Pambanisha covers the cost of Caren’s medical care so she can focus on her important work.

3.
